Congenital Heart Disease Clinic

Welcome to the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Clinic

If you are living with congenital heart disease, our Adult Congenital Heart Disease Clinic can monitor and help you manage your condition.

Congenital heart disease is a problem with the heart's structure and function that is present at birth. Spectrum Health's Adult Congenital Heart Disease Program is the only one in West and mid-Michigan with specialists who can evaluate and treat complex congenital heart defects.

Because we work closely with the Helen DeVos Children's Hospital Pediatric Cardiology Program, many of our patients transfer to our clinic from the pediatric congenital heart disease clinic when they reach age 18 and transition to adulthood.

We also carefully monitor the cardiac health of women with congenital heart defects who are pregnant or want to become pregnant.

What to Expect

As part of your health care team, we work with you to offer a seamless continuation of care throughout your lifetime. We can advise our patients on health and lifestyle choices for their adult needs, including physical challenges, exercise options and family planning. We'll also work very closely with your cardiologist to monitor your health and your heart. Services we offer include:

  • New patient consultations
  • Office visits for periodic check ups
  • Medication monitoring
  • Stress tests, echocardiograms and imaging studies
  • Connections to heart surgeons who specialize in congenital defects and heart rhythm specialists as needed
